Vibrant Southwest-Inspired Bohemian Styled Shoot // Maryland Wedding Photographer

You GUYS! I have been just dying to share these with you and I finally can!

My inspiration for this styled session began with the vibrant turquoise serape blanket. Even though I’m a Marylander with no desert for thousands of miles, I’m obsessed with all things southwest-inspired, maybe because of my South American heritage. I have a love of everything desert-related, from turquoise to succulents to wind-blown hair. When I started brainstorming for this shoot, I wanted to capture eclectic color schemes and ideas. I love mixing and matching everything from prints and patterns (as you see in the bright and bold pillows in the tablescape) to big ideas (like a rustic mint green barn + southwest decor!). I like taking elements and inspiration from things that don’t traditionally go together and creating something cohesive and fun.

I first reached out to Marcie of Celebrating Love by Marcie and was lucky enough to have her on my team to help me make this vision come to life! We were then lucky enough to collaborate with some amazingly talented local vendors, and host the shoot at Montagu Meadows, a beautiful and intimate up and coming venue in Westminster. The owner, Christina, was gracious enough to give us full run of the grounds. It has everything from gorgeous meadows to that signature mint barn to the cutest resident pup that followed us everywhere and even made a cameo in some of our photos (scroll to the bottom to find that cute little dude!)

Brides, I call Marcie the “wedding fairy godmother” because she will truly make your wedding dreams come true. I came to her with a pinterest board, some pillows and a lot of lofty ideas, and she helped me gel them all together in this beautiful bohemian tablescape 🙂 We shot these on what should have been a beautiful April spring day… but the temps were in the forties and the wind was gusting 30 mph so we were up against some “real wedding day” issues when it came to getting everything to come together! Luckily Marcie is a boss with some double sided tape, and we had a beautiful couple to model for us who are as tough as they are gorgeous, so they made it look like the middle of summer haha. Sara from Beloved Paper created these beautiful, delicate watercolor menus! Love. This really cool and unique gilded gold flatware was provided by Christina at Montagu Meadows- she has a huge selection of flatware and china for use at the venue! One other special and personal touch that I added was using my grandmother’s engagement ring, her antique ring box and plate, as well as her unique antique perfume bottle for some of the ring and detail photos. I loved having the opportunity to add real vintage and antique elements. These gorgeous metallic dipped feathers were provided by Velvet and Slate! <3Look at this gorgeous floral arrangement by Marcie! The cake was provided by La Cakerie, and I love how they were able to bring together metallics with a watercolor feel. Marcie ran with my idea of a colorful signature drink- it was hard not to actually drink them they looked so good hehe. The wardrobe is a great example of what a bride and groom on a budget can accomplish and still look luxe. The gown is from Asos and the suit is from Express for Men so both are really affordable. The tie and headpiece are also from Asos. The shoes are from Target. Total cost for both the bride and groom was around $500 COMBINED from head to toe. Just goes to show you can find great deals on expensive looking apparel and find ways to stretch your budget! Look at all this gorgeousness. Destinee is a true natural beauty but Carly from Pins-N-Brushes and Bethany from All Aglow Beauty made the ultimate hair and makeup team and elevated her to goddess status! I just love Destinee and Sean and I am so glad they were able to model for us. Their chemistry is palpable. What more can you ask for than to have two beautiful people in front of your camera who love each other and naturally show it in every nuance of their body language! At the end of the night we just had to take advantage of the gorgeous sunset. And I can never resist doing a few night portraits!Oh hey there, Ace!! Apparently you wanted to be in this photo too haha <3 This little doggie photobomb was the perfect way to end the night! Thanks to all of the amazing people who came together to create this beautiful vision!
