Ever since Miranda & Tyler tied the knot last September, I have been dying to find the time to blog about their beautiful wedding- I am so happy I was finally able to make it happen! 2015 was a crazy year for me with a growing business and a growing new baby- blogging got put on the back burner. But this year my goal is to find the time to get caught up and blog all of last year’s fun, so let’s start with this adorable couple and their amazing wedding!
Miranda & Tyler got married last year at Walker’s Overlook (one of my all-time favorite venues!) and their wedding was simply stunning. So many beautiful and personal details, heartfelt moments, a TON of fun at an epic party, and an epic sparkler send-off! Not to mention they had Chick- fil-A at cocktail hour and an ice cream bar from my favorite local ice cream shop, so this was one happy and well-fed photographer haha!
There are so many things about this wedding that made it special. One is just how in love these two are. A mutual friend told me before I met them, “Karen, they are SO romantic- they are like the couple from The Notebook!” (except without the drama haha!) When I photographed their engagement last spring, I knew exactly what she meant. They are truly soulmates- that connection doesn’t happen all the time, and they are blessed to not only love, but also truly appreciate each other. What a gift to find “the one” so young, and to know how to nurture that gift.
Now let’s talk about the details! I LOVE the color palatte they went with- petal pink and Navy with some pops of gold- who doesn’t love some sparkle?!
I also love all the personal touches and DIY that these two included in their day. From Miranda, “Tyler and I made our wedding a little more personal by wearing our favorite shoes, Chuck Taylor’s. We also brought lots of pictures of us throughout the years as well. We painted lots of wooden pallets and made lots of signs for our wedding. We also had burlap banners that we made and painted on, and an ice cream bar with lots of yummy toppings to choose from.”
Before the ceremony, Miranda was able to give her dad a first look. I know I have said it a thousand times, but first looks are absolutely my favorite. Whether it be a parent, friend, or your almost- spouse- it is such a beautiful moment when it all becomes “real” and loved ones see the beautiful bride in her dress, ready to say those vows! I will admit this moment got me a little teary eyed.
Now, for anyone who knows me, you know I don’t easily cry. The first look between Miranda and her dad got me a little misty but THIS had me full out crying like a fool. I didn’t get to have this little moment with my own Grammy on my wedding day, so seeing Miranda be able to celebrate FOUR beautiful generations really brought me to tears!
Then there was the ceremony, which couldn’t have been more perfect. You guys, I absolutely love Walker’s Overlook. It is stunning, especially the gorgeous ceremony site- that tree!
Now can I just say that Miranda & Tyler have some of the nicest and most FUN friends and family I have worked with?! They are so luck to be surrounded by so many awesome people! Just looking at these made me laugh remembering all the silliness that went on behind the scenes of the wedding party and family photos haha.
Oh and HELLO- how beautiful are Tyler’s little sisters (flower girl and junior bridesmaid, Stella & Luci!) Also, check out this beautiful tree-lined drive at Walker’s Overlook!
Miranda & Tyler did what I suggest for ALL my couples and that is to schedule in some time to sneak off during golden hour or sunset to get their portraits in that gorgeous glowy light. All the heart eyes.
After they got a little alone time for photos, it was party time. The reception had everything you want for an epic party celebrating for the best possible reasons: great food, great energy, great speeches, ….dance battles, cornhole, chick-fil-A, brothers doing flips, the worm, guys taking off their shirts…. you know, just standard stuff haha!!
SO. MUCH. FUN. We also got to sneak out for a few photos after dark and have some fun with sparklers!
Ok now let’s talk about this sparkler send off! EPIC.
See the way they look at each other? Yep, they did that all day, and I bet they will still be looking at each other with the same love and appreciation when they are 80. Miranda & Tyler thank you for giving us the honor of capturing the love and laughter of your special day. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness! <3
